Hello and welcome to Sport Southampton!

My name is Lance Wicks, Sport Southampton is my creation. Sport Southampton started life as a social news site for niche sports in Southampton, but has changed to become a niche consultancy in the area of sport and digital technologies.

As a software developer and sports coach I became involved in the running of local level and then international level sports events and organisations. I have worked with national governing bodies and international governing bodies to deliver events and projects.

My expertise is in web technologies and social media for sport. I first spoke on the use of Facebook for sport back in 2008 in a keynote lecture at the University of Bath. Back then technologies like live video streaming and putting results online was still new and difficult. Today it is relatively easy and the benefits pretty well known.

Most national and international governing bodies are developing digital strategies; as are many clubs and athletes.

Sport Southampton is here to help athletes, coaches, clubs, governing bodies, leagues and partners to work in the digital space. I work on paid projects and free projects depending on the situation and expenses involved.
